Green space located at the intersection of 42nd and Leavenworth streets; designed to create an entry point to campus.
On the site that was formerly home to the Charlie Graham auto body store, which relocated to the southeast corner of the same intersection.
Features 18 columns created by Omaha artist Jun Kaneko amongst a grove of mature trees. Benches line the walk and provide visitors, medical center employees, and students the opportunity to seek calmness and beauty amid a tranquil park-like setting.
Donated by philanthropists Bob and Polina Schlott. Bob was the CEO and owner of Omaha-based Warren Distribution, the largest North American manufacturer of private-label auto and machinery lubricants and Polina had a career as an acquisition professional for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Part of the dedication included a plaque in honor of Polina's mother, Larisa Poluektova, MD, PhD, a professor in the UNMC Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience, and co-director of the Translational Mouse Model Core Facility.
The project also included two monument signs, directly across the street to the east, designed to be seen by traffic approaching campus from the east, west, and south and are lit at night.
