The future street alignment through the Saddle Creek Development.
An artist’s rendering of the Catalyst building.
Will revitalize the area around the southwest corner of Saddle Creek Road and Farnam Streets; which is located across the intersection from Project NExT. The development will include two new buildings:
A 350,000-square-foot administrative building called the CORE building (Campus Operations and Research Excellence) – will enhance existing UNMC research environments with support for computer-based research and wet lab-based research for drug discovery, oncology research, and other needs. Broke ground in November 2023 and scheduled for completion in February 2026.
The Catalyst building will bring together UNMC’s UNeMed and UNeTech branches with biotech and technology startups to serve as a hub of innovation for the campus, city, state, and region. The Catalyst will be home to a wide variety of office suites and studios available to lease, an event hall, a coffee shop, and a fitness center. Scheduled to open in January 2025.
The CORE building will have the capability to accommodate a future pedestrian bridge structure crossing
over Saddle Creek Road, linking the area to the main campus.
The City of Omaha will pay for, own, and operate an adjacent parking structure that will serve the buildings.
